Product Bootcamp



Product Bootcamp is an intensive, hands on workshop that takes your concept and works it through the entire product lifecycle to help you get your idea into the wild.

You'll move from idea validation and feedback through product planning and road mapping your Minimum Testable Product (MTP)You'll then move to UX & Wireframes before building a working Prototype. Along the way you'll learn about product design, tools, & best practices.

You'll also learn how to design tasks, work with developers, and will build a metrics driven dashboard to guide you along your journey. 

Think of Product Bootcamp as a cross between the Lean Startup, Startup Weekend and a Startup Incubator/Accelerator. 

Product Bootcamp is for solo founders and small teams looking for the best & fastest way to launch a product.



We accept entrepreneurs who at a minimum have an idea they are passionate about. We also work with existing products and can help strengthen and improve your product.

Here are some items you should consider completing before the Bootcamp::

  1. Ability to pitch your idea in under 5 minutes giving an overview of the idea or product you are bringing to the table. Should include:
    --Market opportunity
    --Why you’re building this now
    --Why you are the right team
    --At least one product sketch or wireframe
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of the space you are entering.
  3. A compelling reason to enter the space - getting a startup off the ground is hard, keeping it running through all the bumps along the way is even harder. We’re looking for people committed to their idea who will stick with it through launch and beyond.

The curriculum can be modified to meet your specific needs. Below is our full curriculum.

Session 1: Product & Idea Review & Feedback

We'll start by looking at how you present your product & idea. This will be done in "pitch" format - you'll present for up to 10 minutes and we will provide feedback on the idea, opportunity, and pitch itself so you can improve it for future pitches.

For entrepreneurs who are first-time founders, we'll spend time here reviewing the product plan to date, the idea itself, and the potential future business model. 

Session 2: How to build a Market Testable Product (MTP) Roadmap

In this session you will learn how to establish a product roadmap for your Market Testable Product (MTP). We'll walk you through real world examples of MTP's we've built or seen go to market, and work through the framework needed to establish what the product needs to do for whom so that the idea can be validated in the wild.

Session 3: Working session - Building your Product Roadmap

This phase will walk you through how to build your own product MTP for your company. The goal is to create a roadmap that enables you to get feedback on from real customers & users from which you can iterate. This is a very hands-on session where we will answer questions, give feedback and direction, and to craft the initial product roadmap.

Session 4: User experience - Techniques & Tools

In this section you'll learn what techniques are used to build a basic user experience, and we will then explore different tools for use in creating multi-device wireframes.


This section is a deep dive into building out the initial user experience. We will get to work building (or refining) product wireframes for your MTP. Product Bootcamp staff will be working with you side by side to provide feedback - and to help as needed. 


In this session we will build out the first prototype that can then be shared and shown to others. We’ll leverage a prototype tool to tie together wireframes in a seamless manner. We’ll look at what needs to change now that we have it in action.

Session 7: Designing a product

Overview of visual design as well as multi device layout and design. Reviewing tradeoffs and opportunities for building web & native apps.

Session 8: Product Development - Tools, Technology, Options

Here we will review how to build the actual product, including:

  • What tools are needed to move to development
  • Technology Review - what frameworks, languages & options are available for product development. 
  • Task Creation - we'll review how to create basic tasks that developers can understand and build from in a productive manner

Session 9: Product Development - Task Creation

In this session we will get technical and work towards building out technical tasks for your MTP. Don't worry - tech skills are not required, but we will provide a framework and specific set of tasks as an output that you can bring to a developer or development shop for them to start work from.

Session 10: Technical & Team Options

In this session we will review the primary options that founders will have as they build their product and company. What skills do you already possess? What skills are most critical right now that you don’t have? In this session we will take a close look at your product and the team and staffing needs to support it. 

  • In house VS outsourced
  • How to find/hire a technical co-founder
  • Vendor selection process and options
  • Offshore options

Session 11: How to test and measure for success

Overview of key metrics, KPIs & and how leverage measurement for success of your product. In this session we will:

  • Review Products, Tools and Resources available for measurement
  • Review Basic Analytics options
  • Set up an initial Dashboard for use in measuring  your product success
  • Setting up specific tools for your product

Session 12: Launch and Beyond

Overview of how to go to market, and an overview of specific growth techniques we've seen work (and some lessons learned) around:

  • Inbound vs outbound marketing
  • What your marketing website should contain
  • How to leverage social channels to get the word out
  • Other distribution and launch options
  • Copywriting
  • Legal


When does Product Bootcamp run?
We book Product Bootcamp sessions throughout the year. We'll do our best to accommodate your schedule. We've run sessions during the week, in the evening, and even on the weekend. Contact us to see what dates are available. 

How much does Product Bootcamp cost?

Who leads the workshop?
Craig Zingerline leads and runs the workshop. Craig is a long time educator, having taught numerous college level courses as well as building and developing multiple curriculum's in the technology space. 

Highlights include:

  • Developing the curriculum for the Founder.University program
  • Being a LAUNCH Incubator mentor (and 2x attendee!)
  • Building or co-founding 6 startups
  • Mentoring dozens of startups and other founders
  • Strategizing, developing and launching over 200 web and app products
  • Teaching web, database & product strategy at the University level
  • Developing intensive professor training programs for Virginia Tech, including building multiple-day workshops

Craig earned a Bachelor of Science in Information Management and Technology from Syracuse University where he was captain of the Cross Country and Track & Field teams and member of the Big East Academic All-America Team 1997-99.

What do I get out of it in terms of deliverables?

Do you do website/mobile development work?
Development is not included as part of Product Bootcamp, but our sister company Tree Hill Creative handles web & mobile development projects of all sizes
